I'm hoping to see Blues today as they should be coming out soon, especially with the warmer weather.
Right from the start there's excitement as the Forget me knots are in bloom; many of them!!
And a bit farther up the road, I see a flash of a blue flyer. I'm tracking it past a couple of snow mobiles on the road. Out of the corner of my eye, I see another blue flyer. And then I lose both of them. :( But hey, the Blues are emerging now!! In a couple of days, they'll be everywhere. We could use some rain to wet the ground; a great butterfly attractant.
I continue along seeing Mourning Cloak, Commas (Hoary,
Satyr and Green), 2 Painted Lady and a CA Tortoiseshell.
And one additional Blue flyer.
And lots of those orange little moths flying (and a few of those white spotted ones).
I even see 2 Mourning Cloak swirl into the air. Also fun to watch.
The road is completely clear now. And the creek is really flowing now.
Nearing the trail head, I look carefully in the wet, muddy side of the road. I'm only finding those orange flyers and some Commas.
I decide to head up the trail for a bit finding a moose track along the way.
Boy, it continues to melt fast.
I make it farther than the other day stopping to watch a few Commas along the way.
As I return to the road, I'm surprised to see an Orangetip flying. I wasn't expecting them already; especially at the trail head! I follow hoping for it to stop. It doesn't stop but another Orangetip flies out and the two swirl high into the air! Awesome!
Good day!
