Yet another 90 degree day with sun. It's only supposed to be 81 degrees. Someday the temps will break.
Heading up Little Cottonwood Canyon to hike up to Germania Pass. Got an early start so I'll start from the Cecret Lake trailhead instead of walking up from Alta. It'll cost me $8 (at I think I still have to pay) but it'll be worth it.
Colors are just starting to change a bit; still thinking the colors will not be good because of the drought but we'll see.
I arrive at the Cecret Lake parking and there's only one other car here. (yea!) So I gear up and start up the trail.
Everything is brown and seed heads at this point. I do find a couple of Purple Asters clinging on to blooms.
Quiet walking as I'm looking for moose or deer but finding nothing but chipmunks.
I arrive at the lake and it's beautiful as always!
I'm not the only one here; there a group/family on the near end.
I slowly walk around to the other side and stop just a bit to enjoy several bluebirds before continuing up the rock slope on my way to Germania Pass.
Always an interesting climbing this way along the rocks rising above the lake; it's harder but quicker than taking the road.
I top out and things level off as I pass beneath the Sugarloaf lift to the skicat road. Then it's just up the road thru the browning vegetation.
I reach the ski lift and take a peek down LCC to the Salt Lake Valley. Looks pretty clear down there.
Then it's up the remaining road - stopping to look for Pika (I hear them) and chipmunks - before reaching the Pass.
Really windy up here; a little chilly but manageable. And the views are incredible as always!!!
Time to head down.
I really looking for Marmots now. This is usually a really good place to find them but not seeing them. Hope they are not gone. Hold on, there's one! Yea!
Then it's back down the road, stopping briefly at my lookout.
Unfortunately, there were a couple people there so I didn't stay long.
Then back to the lake and then to my car.
Good day
