Sunny day with highs in the 90s.
Heading up after work to walk Lambs Canyon Road. Yea, I know I can just walk the trail but I'm curious what might be flying along the road. It's late in a very dry season but you never know.
I arrive between 3-3:30 and park at the gate. I grab my pack and start walking up the road.
I quickly find a couple of Woodland Skippers.
Most of the vegetation is dry. There's a few patches of purple asters and some yellow composites but it's pretty barren.
Lots of berries
and rose hips.
Just me and the still running stream (and a couple of cars).
When I arrive on the wet area before the trail head, I find a Field Crescent. And oh, there's another one.
I find a few more Woodland Skipper around the parking lot.
But the muddy sections (and yes, there's still muddy sections) contain only bees and wasps.
Time to head back.
Find a Colorado Hairstreak flying - no picture.
Not and exciting walk but it felt good.
